Get Delicious Malaysian Food That Tastes Like Home Delivered In The UK

It’s been more than a year since I’ve been back home due to COVID-19 and I’m homesick! I miss my family, especially my mom’s nagging (that’s a big fat lie), friends and the food so bad.

I’ve come to realise after almost three years of living in the UK that it’s quite difficult to find authentic and delicious Malaysian food here. Where I reside in Bristol, it’s especially hard because there isn’t a restaurant dedicated to the cuisine, only a few pop-up supper clubs and a food stall. If you’re in London, I’d say you’re quite blessed with options but if you’re in the same position as I am, keep reading to find out how you can have your cravings satisfied and delivered to your doorstep!

After scouring the interwebz for authentic Malaysian food that delivers, I’ve compiled a list for your perusal:

Pezu

Pezu is a marketplace that was founded with the objective to help the hospitality industry recover from the adverse effects of COVID-19. Businesses in the food industry can now sustain their business through these tough times by having your pantry must-haves and favourite meals delivered! They have a variety of well-known restaurants and innovative independent brands on their platform including Sambal Shiok, Rasa Sayang and more. They deliver nationwide across the UK and I was beaming with joy when I found this site!

Makan Malaysia UK is by Kat & Sue, two besties who have a passion for sharing the amazing cuisine from back home, here. The website features marvellous recipes and sells everything you might miss from childhood. They’ve got everything from Nasi Lemak to Assam Pedas, I’m drooling as I type! They deliver all over the UK so you can sit back, relax and wait for UPS to buzz your doorbell.

Eat Lah

This aesthetically pleasing and absolutely delicious dish hails from Kelantan in Malaysia. Nasi Kerabu directly translates to Herb Rice and is quite difficult to get ahold of outside Malaysia. It has an eye-catching blue dyed rice from the Butterly Pea Flower, plenty of Malay salads and protein of your choice to pair with. Rob & Mel are the founders of Eat Lah, the couple who has done us all a huge favour by delivering this mouthwatering dish across the UK. What are you waiting for? Time to makan!

Malaysian Indulgence

Missing your childhood favourite kuih-muihs (confectionary)? Well, I found Malaysian Indulgence on Facebook that sells a variety of just what you might need to fix that craving of yours! Last I checked, this vendor sells exclusively on Facebook and has sky-high reviews. Yusof, the brain behind the operations is responsible for crafting delicious Kek Lapis to sell, alongside the occasional festive biscuits and cakes. He delivers wherever you are in the UK so don’t hesitate to send him a message!

Jenny Ong’s Kitchen

After a long night of reminiscing Malaysian food and scouring on the interwebz for tasty treats to be delivered, I came across Jenny Ong’s Kitchen. She exclusively sells on Facebook and doesn’t really have a menu per se, but it really does seem like she’s a genie that’ll be able to whip up any Malaysian delicacy you might be craving for. Her Facebook page features everything from Nyonya Kuihs to Dim Sums alongside pictures of her toddler who I’m eternally jealous of for being able to devour all the goodies she makes!

Food can be comforting in many ways, especially if you’re homesick! I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed drafting it up. Let me know what you ordered and how you found it! These are trying times but we’ll make it through.
