Pulau Ketam; Island of Crabs
Sheng Wei had the pleasure of sleeping over with my family & I at my gramps place in Klang this weekend. We had a spontaneous trip to Pulau Ketam (Crab Island, literally) and it was pretty enjoyable.
We drove to Port Klang and took a ferry to Pulau Ketam. You can take the air-conditioned ferry that cost RM7 for adult one way, RM4 for kids below 12 or the speedboat which is slightly more expensive but arrive in half the time. We took the air-con ferry thou cause my gramps felt safer in it. Tickets are to be paid on board.
Tall people probs - the leg room is quite small and cramp.
It took about 40 minutes from mainland to the island so we napped for a bit on the way.
The biggest and oldest hotel in Pulau Ketam is Sea Lion Hotel. Its right in front of the jetty so you
can't miss it.
You can rent a bicycle for RM5 a day to travel around the village.
We had lunch at one of the many restaurants on the island, Kim Hoe Restaurant.
Rustic old shop lots and houses on stilts. A small island where everyone travels on foot & bikes only. Cheap seafood and lots of crabs :p Somewhere to go if you want to get away from the hustle & bustle of the busy city to enjoy some fresh, affordable and delicious seafood and just for the experience of it.
